The Egyptian Committee on Libya, headed by Lt. General Mahmoud Hijazi, the chief of staff of the Egyptian armed forces, received three days of Libyan delegations from Barka and Misrata to discuss Libya's reconciliation.
Colonel Tamer Rifai, the military spokesman, said that meetings and consultations had taken place "separately with each delegation, and then jointly with representatives of the two delegations without preconditions".
The discussion addressed ways to achieve reconciliation and the concerns of each Party and ways to address them. The participants agreed on a "plan of action whose first steps will be for the return of arrivals to inform their social norms of the current consultations and proposals taking into account ways to address the real and serious concerns and demands of both sides ,To ensure the success of the next steps, in accordance with a timetable and a time-frame for future meetings aimed at reaching its interests a reality that promotes the common livelihood of the Libyan people, ends the polarization .
The discussions highlighted the existence of consensus among all those present on the following constants:
- To affirm the unity, sovereignty, security and integrity of Libya, to preserve the unity of the Libyan social , to affirm the sanctity of Libyan blood and to promote national reconciliation.
- To work for the rebuilding of the Libyan state, to strengthen its institutions and to protect its people, and to reject and condemn all forms of foreign interference in the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya and to combat all forms of extremism and terrorism.
- Commitment to the establishment of a modern, democratic civil state based on the principles of the peaceful circulation of power, harmony and acceptance of the other, and rejection of all forms of marginalization and exclusion of any Libyan Parties.
- To renounce and combat terrorism, extremist groups, organized criminal groups and all outlaw militias, to establish State authority and extradition for justice in all Libyan cities, and to condemn all kinds of terrorism wherever it exists.
- To affirm in this context the support for the efforts made to combat terrorism in all Libyan cities and to explore ways of creating a mechanism to compensate for the damage caused by such acts.
